Sattvic food is supposed to aid the practice. It makes sense because we know what eating (and drinking) crap does to our practice. So I’ve tried hard to fix what I need – which a lot of times is dead easy because the stuff that’s good for you tastes fantastic.
Case in point is my breakfast smoothie – a staple in my culinary armoury for over 10 years. I invented this. It has it all:
1/2 cup of soya milk
1/2 cup of orange juice
1/2 to 1 cup of fresh strawberries*
1 ripe banana**
1 tablespoon of peanut butter
1/4 cup of rolled oats
*I buy in bulk when they’re in season and cheap; I freeze them to use through winter for this smoothie
**Take those bananas that a day away from being too ripe. Peel, ziplock and freeze them – they’re naturally mega-sweet. Perfect for this.
Blend and enjoy.
